Another simple way to make a very cool sound you hear in a variety of heavy melodic bass songs. There's another good song example but I just can't think of it right now. Another note I forgot to mention is to reduce the lower range a bit around 100hz with the in-synth EQ if you need to. Reverb goes a long way on this sound. I'm sure you can figure it out.
