0:00 Intro
0:05 The technician said: "I cleaned the boost sensor because it was clogged with soot, replaced the air filter and cleaned the intake housing, removed the EGR cooler exit pipe and the cooler was fine, dropped the exhaust and the DPF was completely face plugged, never seen one that face plugged before."
He also mentioned they tried cleaning the DPF with their DPF/DOC cleaner but once it was cleaned they could see visible damage/wear to the DPF and had to replace it.
A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is a filter that captures and stores exhaust soot (some refer to them as soot traps) in order to reduce emissions from diesel cars. But because they only have a finite capacity, this trapped soot periodically has to be emptied or 'burned off' to regenerate the DPF.
0:29 This truck has an excessive amount of engine blow-by.
Engine blow-by is when a mixture of air-fuel or combustion gases leaks between the engine's pistons and cylinder wall into the crankcase. Engine blow-by can occur within both diesel and gas engines.
0:42 The customer agreed to get a new sub-frame installed.
Also, his nephew installed a new CV axle on the driver's side.
1:03 The technician said he no longer only rebuilds transmissions for the customers to install themselves as he constantly gets customer's saying they have issues after they install them on their own. The transmission was 4 quarts low on transmission fluid.
1:17 The technician said the catalytic converter had to get replaced as well, as before the customer did the spark plugs, the customer was driving around for so long with a bad misfire.
1:33 "2021 Ford Ranger, about 7,200 miles. The customer requested for me to Tow his vehicle about an hour away to a Ford Dealership. Stated he couldn't control the accelerator or the brakes at all. In his own words, It was either full gas or brakes grinding to a halt. He suspected it was the ECU as he just washed the truck. So I let him drive the truck onto the edge of my flatbed, put my hooks on, and went to put it into neutral. Then I immediately found his problem. The aftermarket floor mat was reinstalled improperly after the cleaning, where I found the mat laying over the accelerator. The owner still wanted to pay for the $200+ tow despite the argument he had with his wife."
1:42 No extra info.
2:01 Ford Escape. The nut for longer ball-joint was never tightened. The technician never found out who actually installed the ball joint.
2:11 The technician said he was not sure what those syringes are used for, but for safety reasons his shop refused to work on the car.
2:26 Seized A/C Compressor and alternator as mentioned. The vehicle is Ford Focus.
2:37 Somebody welded on this u-joint. The customer declined to get a new u-joint installed.
2:46 The technician said the customer ended up scrapping the car after this incident.
2:53 "Insurance estimate was $8,000. Insurance wants to total the truck out. He’s going to fix it himself mostly but he just went into the shop just to get a leaking tire fixed."
3:06 Dodge Challenger.
3:23 Outro. Thanks for watching!
