How to open a front and rear bike hub. This long video shows you the procedure of opening typical Shimano cup and cone hubs. Recommendations for repacking the hubs, with quality graded ball bearings. The specific hubs in the video are XT M738 (front) and M739 (rear)
Front hub requires 20 3/16 inch ball bearings. Aim for 20/25 graded bearings
Rear hub needs 18 1/4 inch ball bearings
Grease used for the front. Finish line teflon grease. Rear I used Motorex 2000. Marin grease is also good if it is easier to get hold of. Due to its water resistant capabilities.
