Even after all this time, I’m feeling pretty fortunate that I can use my software development skills directly for skateboarding shit. Here are some scenes from one of the jobs I do.
What you saw on the Tony Hawk Vert Alert broadcast last weekend has never been done in a skateboarding event scoring situation before.
Super instant updates were happening during the jam as the judges slide their scale on their score cards before even submitting. When the jam is over, judges finish thinking and submit final scores.
We showed these judges “thinking” scores up until the last few minutes of the jam.
At the end, we still did a podium reveal of final results. I think it’s a nice balance between crazy tech scoring and providing for an entertaining event.
It went smooth but the heat made me extra nervous!
