In my last Ring doorbell video, we completed the physical install of the Ring Wi-Fi ring video doorbell Pro. It’s been 10 months of using the device and I thought I’d share some of my likes and dislikes and why I only give the very popular Ring doorbell 3/5 stars. I really like how easy it is to setup the app. When someone rings the doorbell, I like how I get a notification within a second. The image quality is good but we also look at this as an issue when it’s not preforming. I think the whole video doorbell is a great idea and Ring has some good potential but still has a way to go. I did not need to made any router changes such as port forwarding. I’m impressed to see the camera has IR lights for night vision and a wide camera angle. Lastly, the customer service is great! I ran into several downfalls with the doorbell taking it from 5 starts to just 3. The image quality does suffer on occasion and there are horrible delays up to 30 seconds from when the notification comes into my phone till I see the image from the doorbell. There is also a subscription fee required to save footage to the cloud. I wonder about the quality of the hardware as my broke just 4 months in. It would no longer connect to my WiFi. Lastly, there is no PoE solution and I bet a lot of these issues could be solved with a wired option.
