Why do English translations of the Bible follow a Jewish (superstitious) tradition of not rendering the Divine Name of God as it was given originally in the Hebrew Scriptures (the Tanakh) as יהוה, or Yahweh, but instead as LORD? Many translations in other languages also follow suit, unfortunately. They even use the incorrect anglicized "Jehovah" variant in so doing.
The Bible itself never commands, promotes or implies such practice, and as with other man-made traditions, only confusion follows it.
The upcoming Legacy Standard Bible by John MacArthur's Master's University (based on the 1995 New American Standard Bible) will be using God's covenant name properly, which is encouraging. Hopefully future revisions of other mainstream (conservative) Bible translations will do the same.
