Throwing a cross in boxing refers to a punch thrown with the rear hand, also known as the rear cross or back hand. This punch is often considered one of the most powerful punches in a boxer's arsenal as it utilizes the full rotation of the shoulders and hips to generate power. To throw a cross, a boxer will pivot on their back foot, rotating their hips and shoulders towards the target, while simultaneously extending their arm to deliver the punch. The fist should be clenched tight and the elbow should be close to the body for maximum power and control. The cross is typically thrown as a straight punch, aimed at the opponent's head or body, but it can also be thrown as a hook, aimed at the opponent's sides. A well-timed cross can be a devastating blow that can end a fight quickly. However, it is also a punch that can leave the boxer vulnerable to counters if not thrown carefully
