New and exciting businesses surface every day but how many of them have a mission that aims to solve the problems that really matter? Noveck discusses that many people have innovative ideas but lack the skills to successfully take a project from idea to implementation. However, there is a specific set of 7 skills that can be taught across universities, businesses, and governments to create public entrepreneurs and mission-driven leaders. Noveck argues that social impact is learnable and we can enable anyone and everyone to master the skills of public problem-solving in their own communities to become more successful creators of social change. Beth Simone Noveck is a professor at Northeastern, where she directs the University’s Burnes Center for Social Change and its partner project, The Governance Lab. Noveck is the author of Solving Public Problems: How to Fix Our Government and Change Our World and has advised individuals such as President Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and UK Prime Minister David Cameron. She also currently serves as the Chief Innovation Officer of the State of New Jersey and carries accolades such as “100 Most Creative People in Business” by Fast Company and “Top Women in Technology” by Huffington Post. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
