Alfred Hitchcock built his career on making his audiences WAIT in such a way that he became a master of terror. So much so he was renowned in saying 'there is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it!.
So how did Alfred Hitchcock take the concept of making the audience WAIT and apply it to one of Alfred Hitchcock's most celebrated movies, 1948's 'Rope'?
In the movie, we watch how two wannabe murderers host a party next just after having murdered their school friend merely for the sport of it. We are then subjected to a brilliantly tense 90 minutes as we see if the party-goers will stumble upon the body hidden in plain sight or not. Tense anticipation of impending doom or what!
