On June 20, 1985, President Reagan presented Mother Teresa, today honored by the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of Calcutta, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Upon accepting the medal, she thanked the President and urged everyone listening to do what they can to love their families and neighbors.
