(5 Oct 1995) Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic said on Thursday (5/10) that
there were "no limits" on Bosnia's warring parties until a
ceasefire accord comes into effect in five days' time. "The ceasefire starts on the 10th (October) which means that it is does not start as of today," Izetbegovic said in response to the announcement in Washington of a ceasefire brokered by US envoy, Richard Holbrooke. An eight-point ceasefire agreement was reached earlier Thursday at the end of a week of frenetic shuttle diplomacy between the Balkan capitals led by Holbrooke. The ceasefire is conditional on the restoration by rebel Serbs of gas and electricity supplies to Sarajevo, and the opening of two roads to the government-held enclave of Goradze.
