Asturias is a community of Spain. It contains almost all of the territory that was part of the Kingdom of Asturias in the Middle Ages. It is bordered by Cantabria to the east, by Castilla and León to the south, and by Galicia to the west, and also by the Bay of Biscay to the north.
The most important cities are Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés. Other popular municipalities include Cangas del Narcea, Gozón, Langreo, Laviana, Llanes, Mieres, Vegadeo and others.

Asturias is especially known for its seafood but the most famous dish is fabada asturiana, a stew made with large white beans, shoulder of pork, black sausage, and spicy sausage.
