BJ demonstrates how to easily make an acrylic wash with the Scale75 Artist acrylics.
The use of water acts like a retarder since water takes time to dry and allows a long working time.
Acrylic thinner or alcohol can be used instead for a faster drying time.
Detergent is important to lower the surface tension so the fluid runs smoothly along details.
Any dish detergent is suitable but since there are so many types, experiment with the amount to add to get the desired flow.
Learning how to make a wash allows you to make your own custom tones and colours, and control the wash intensity.
A thinner wash becomes a filter that alters the tone of the base paint.
