🔶04 - Unit Vectors with Solved Examples
In todays video, we shall discuss the concept of unit vectors. A unit vector is a vector which has the same direction as the given vector only that it has a magnitude of 1.
To find the unit vector, you need to divide the vector(each component) by the magnitude of the vector.
If vector a = xi + yj + zk, then
the unit vector in the same direction of vector a = (xi + yj + zk)/|a|
A Scalar is a quantity that is completely defined by a single value(magnitude) with an appropriate unit. Eg, mass, length, speed.
A vector is a quantity that is completely defined when we know not only its magnitude but also the direction in which it operates.
Eg. force, acceleration, velocity.
We shall also discuss
1. Line segment
2. Directed line segment
3. how to find the magnitude of a vector
4. Types of Vectors
