From April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, the Office of the Ontario Ombudsman’s Children and Youth Unit received over 1,400 cases – the fourth-highest by case type out of a total of more than 20,000 cases the Office received during that time period.
These included cases and complaints about Ontario’s children’s aid societies, residential licensees (foster homes and group homes), secure treatment facilities and youth justice facilities.
