The Strid is a small stretch of river on the River Wharfe which powers through Strid Wood near Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire.
This is arguably the most dangerous stretch of river in the world with a rumoured 100% fatality rate.
The Strid can look picturesque and deceptive on a warm summer day but it will kill you. The river Wharfe narrows from a regular river to around only 6ft wide in places. The water is forced underground, basically turning the river on its side, gouging out passages and tunnels with deadly currents. Attempts have been made to map out the depth of The Strid, however these attempts have been inconclusive and this question is still very much speculated upon.
Enjoy the video with some extremely close up shots over the most dangerous parts and some dramatic drone footage to really help you appreciate the beauty and geography of this wonder.
I do plan further videos around the Strid which may include some experimental activity, please comment with any suggestions about what you would like to see.
Thanks for watching!
