Walahi, aseju ni hand mixer when mortar and pestle dy. Lets’ take it local jor 😀
I was jejely on my own oo to make akara the way I sabi then I remembered Mama Ngozi that was living behind our house that sells ogi and akara.
So I say let me reflect back on childhood memories 😀😋
She sells ogi majorly but saturdays & sunday mornings like this, her akara won’t let somebody eat my mummy’s sunday jollof rice in peace.
Growing up I was really picky in everything including food. Extremely and annoying one at that ☹️
Everyone will be eating rice, me it’s yam I wee feel like eating 😂 and guess what ? After cooking the yam, i won’t feel like eating it again 😂😂
Sometimes I eat the food oo but I can’t remember when I finish food before. So my mom do give me one spoon of food that I should come take more when I finish that one yet I go still chop am remain 👩🏽🦯👩🏽🦯
My mum used to tell me I have egbe ( spiritual group ) that I do eat and remain for 😂😂 Even till now I can hardly finish food. I think I have egbe truly 😂
But if it’s too buy street food then en, I be number one. And I go finish eating all like it’s no man’s business 😂
Atimes I will tell my mummy I dy go church. She will be surprised that which kinda spirit entered me to go to church this early ? Ase it’s akara Iya Ngozi I want to goan buy 😀
Growing up my parents always warned us about street food eating or eating out but you see me, I be street food ambassador. I just love that plenty oil they do use, the local way they cook it outside, the smoke etc.
My mom’s cooking was too tush for that 😂 She will send me there to buy ogi on saturday, I will steal #50 to buy akara, eat it on the road or I dodge it to my room.
When my Mum finish preparing hers I will tell her I am filled or i don’t feel like eating akara 😂 make she just give me pap and milk 😂😂 ase, I have gone to refill 😂🤣
One thing I have learnt growing up and learning food recipes is family or not, I will try once in a while to prepare food like how it is made in the street.
Doing it this way, can always ki*ll your appetite for street food, if you are a parent, and you have a kid that focus majorly on street food like me 😂😂 i will of course encourage you do same to them.
So this was the only thing that helped me stay out of those street food and save money. Now I see akara or street food these days and just pass. If you like get aroma pass anything. I no dy buy.
I trained my self & appetite for that by recreating these recipes at home.
Reverse is now the case. I can hardly finish a food I bought out. But if na me cook am, forget it. I wee finish it unless I forgot to put it inside the fridge and it got spoilt.
Kasala wanted to burst the day Iya Ngozi saw me and greeted me “my customer” how you dy now ? In front of my mum 😭😭
Story continues 👩🏽🦯
