Tumor and cancer are related but distinct concepts. A tumor is an abnormal mass of tissue that can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
Benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body and are usually not life-threatening, while malignant tumors can invade nearby tissues and spread to other parts of the body, posing a risk to health and potentially becoming life-threatening.
Thus, while all cancers involve the presence of tumors, not all tumors are cancerous.
