Kaiser Permanente is working to make the communities we serve healthy and safe through our Northern California Community Benefit programs. Violence is a leading killer of young people. It also has a detrimental impact on communities in many other ways: from increasing rates of depression to decreasing opportunities to be physically active—both of which contribute to the obesity epidemic. Kaiser Permanente partners with organizations like Youth Alive! to support violence prevention programs—like the one that helped this young man turn his life around. It's just one part of Kaiser Permanentes prevention-oriented community health initiatives and our efforts to reduce health disparities. For more, go to: www.kp.org/communitybenefit/ncal
