We were honored to have Ms. Zinah Khallat Sulaiman with us on the occasion of the Seventh Annual Commemoration of the #YazidiGenocide.
Ms. Zinah Khallat Sulaiman shared her thoughts:
"I want to tell you since seven years the fate of 2900 Yazidis is still unknown [...] It is about time that we know their fate , and it is up to the competent authorities to do so by the formation of committees, research and investigation committees to know their fate, and also to resume the work on the mass graves, to open these mass graves, and to exhumate the remaining of the victims."
"The systematic plan implemented by ISIS to destroy the Yazidi community went beyond the limits of the crime itself as they began to take our dignity by kidnapping and enslaving women and choosing them as cheap commodities for sale and purchase, and to use them as tools of sexual violence.”
"I also call the Iraqi government to hold the perpetrators accountable and to bring them to justice […] And the victim that has witnessed the ugliness of ISIS crimes and like the rest of the victims we are always ready to give our testimonies to participate in the peace process in achieving justice and to contribute to holding ISIS elements accountable."
Speech transcripts are available in the English and Arabic languages on the Yazda website, featuring the chronic challenges and crucial actions that need to be urgently addressed and facilitated, for the return of Yazidis to Sinjar.
