A gas pipeline in northern Russia exploded on Thursday (27/4)
sending a fireball several thousand metres into the night sky. A
forest was set alight and local people fled their homes in panic. The blast was witnessed by the crew of a Japanese airliner who said the
flames were as high as 7,500 metres.
