Project: KNOCK OUT Ageism and Ableism
Guest Speaker: Nick Allen
KNOCK OUT Ageism and Ableism is a program for older adults, and people with physical disabilities to support healthy aging in the community.
This program will include an educational speaker series on topics related to safety, self-defenses, ableism, and ageism, in a barrier-free environment that includes attendant care. This program will increase opportunities for participants to socially connect, participate in a physical activity initiative that will challenge societal views on aging as well as aging with a disability.
The educational speaker’s series will support a deeper and clearer understanding of the barriers that affect older people and those living with physical disabilities, while exploring strategies to reduce barriers. This program is funded by the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
