Proxmox Virtual Environment is an open-source server virtualization environment. It is a Debian-based Linux distribution with a modified Ubuntu LTS kernel and allows deployment and management of virtual machines and containers.

INSTRUCTIONS

Edit your host record and change then entry where your host's name is showing up as the example below

127.0.0.1 server01.bakkeweb.local server01

to

192.168.66.10 server01.bakkeweb.local server01

test that this is showing up correctly with the following command

hostname --ip-address

Now we need to add the Install Repository

echo "deb [ Ссылка ] jessie pve-no-subscription" ＞ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-install-repo.list

And add the Repository Key
wget -O- "[ Ссылка ]" | apt-key add -

Now we are going to put the kernel and dependencies in place for Proxmox with the following command

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

Now install Proxmox, all the support tools; and to note I also include openvswitch-switch as it's a part of Proxmox but not included by default.

apt-get install proxmox-ve ssh postfix ksm-control-daemon open-iscsi systemd-sysv openvswitch-switch

Now reboot your system! Almost Done!

The os-prober package scans all the partitions of your host including those of you guests VMs to create dual-boot GRUB entries. This can cause file system corruptions in VMs. If you didn't install Proxmox VE as a dual boot besides another Operating System you can safely remove the os-prober package.

apt-get remove os-prober

Reboot once more and then you will be able to log into your system with the URL structure below

log in with your root username and password

you'll get a warning about not having a subsciption (don't worry it does not disable anything!)

You'll want to add a Virtual Bridge: in the video example we add a simple Linux Bridge

Datacenter ＞ {Server Hostname}

On the right window that appears find

System ＞ Network

Click the Network Interface you wish to use as your management, and click "Remove" this clears the current config off of it

Click Create, and select Linux Bridge

Fill in the IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Bridged Interfaces and if you choose to put a comment in do that as well.

Proxmox will require a reboot after network changes, so you will want to go ahead and do this.

Reboot and your machine should now be accessible! and ready to roll!

#OPTIONAL: If you wish to remove the existing Debian Kernel

apt-get remove linux-image-amd64 linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 linux-base

And check Grub2 Configuration
update-grub
