A huge day for Osprey parents Marko & Miina as both their chicks fledge, within four hours of each other! They hatched two chicks this year, 26th and 27th May, the chicks were ringed on 11th July and given ring numbers XC (oldest) and X4 (youngest). No gender assessment info as yet. XC fledged at 09.43 and X4 fledged at 13.35. This edited video takes place over several hours, starting with XC's fledge at 09.43 and ending with a fish supper at 18.55. Only the middle bits have been cut out to shorten it, otherwise the action is as it happened.
X4 is alone on the nest until mum Miina arrives and departs. Jumps to X4 fledging and returning a while later, followed later by XC returning. Later Miina returns but the chicks are hungry and not happy she doesn't have any food, so she leaves and Marko is mobbed when he arrives much later with a fish. Only one fish, which the elder XC takes. Marko departs and an unhappy X4 tried to get some fish but is rebuffed until managing eventually to get a few pieces, and silence reigns on the nest as the siblings munch contentedly after their big day.

Osprey webcam has been on this nest since 2012. Military exercises, construction activities and traffic noise from road and railway can be heard through the camera. So it is not a remote place, but the Ospreys chose this nesting site themselves in 2011.
