It's December 2021 Patch Tuesday! Microsoft has released today security updates for all supported versions of Windows, including the brand new Windows 11!
For Windows 10 users running the version 2004, 20H2, 21H1, or 21H2 of the OS, the KB5008212 patch is also available to download in Windows Update. The release notes mention the same "miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality” as in the Windows 11 patch, though.

If you’re already running Windows 11 on your PC, you should now be seeing the KB5008215 patch waiting for you in Windows Update.
Today's Patch Tuesday includes fixes for six zero-day vulnerabilities and a total of 67 flaws. These updates include a fix for an actively exploited Windows Installer vulnerability used in malware distribution campaigns.
Microsoft has fixed 55 vulnerabilities (not including Microsoft Edge) with today's update, with seven classified as Critical and 60 as Important.
Please note that because of the holidays, Microsoft won’t offer its usual optional patches later this month. Today also marks the end of servicing for Windows 10 version 2004 for Home and Pro users, and the company now recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10 to keep receiving security and quality updates.
