Western mainstream media often portrays Muslims in Xinjiang as oppressed and struggling. Conversely, positive depictions can lead to accusations of being a propagandist for the Chinese government and the Communist Party of China. Despite this, some brave and independent voices continue to speak the truth based on firsthand experiences.
