Governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared a state of emergency in New York State on Saturday as massive blizzard Jonas swept across the east coast of the United States.
Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio has warned local residents to stay at home through the storm, which has brought winds of up 90 kilometers per hour.
The city's bus transportation system has been suspended and all flights from Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports have been canceled.
The subway is still operating.
The local meteorological authority has described the storm as "life-threatening", although the state is not the worst hit of those on the east coast.
The New York City Police Department has ordered all motor vehicles to keep off streets after 02:30 local time.
As the blizzard has affected the state on the weekend, its potential damage will hopefully be limited to some extent. More on: [ Ссылка ]
