The first television series to include a major character with Down Syndrome, 'Life Goes On' (1989) won awards from critics, and developed a small but loyal viewership. When it ranked at #75 in the first season ABC could have pulled the plug but they kept renewing the show for a total of four seasons. The last episode included a time jump with an older Becca and some closure regarding what happened in the 25 years that passed. Whether those details will be consistent with the revival series that's in the works remains to be seen. The opening theme is the Beatles' 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' performed by Patti LuPone and the show's cast. (On DVD a new song replaces it on every episode other than the pilot.) The end credits music is by Craig Safan.
