This is a video of Japanese National Railways(JNR) D51 steam locomotive No. 498 that ran in Iwate prefecture as part of the Iwate destination campaign.
This event was held in June 2012, and the D51 steam locomotive No. 498 ran on the section between Ichinoseki Station and Kitakami Station on the Tohoku Main Line as the SL Ihatov Iwate Monogatari.
And on the same day, this steam locomotive also ran on the section between Kitakami Station and Kamaishi Station, including the Kamaishi Line, as the SL Ginga Dream.
This steam locomotive was completed at the Takatori Factory of the Ministry of Railways in 1940 and continued to run in Japan until retirement in 1972.
After that, this steam locomotive was kept static in front of Gokan Station on the Joetsu Line, but JR East repaired it and in 1988 it began to run on Japanese railroad tracks again.
The D51 steam locomotive runs on four-axle driving wheels and connects coal and water-laden vehicles to this locomotive.
Please note that it may be difficult to watch the video because it was shot in 2012 when my shooting technique was immature.
