It might be easier to talk about what Rod Watson isn’t than what he is. He made his career as a mathematician, spent 20 years as a civil marriage celebrant and has been a broadcaster at classical music radio station 3MBS for over 20 years! (unfortunately, all is on hold courtesy COVID-19.) Rod has majors in Pure & Applied Mathematics with a Statistics sub-major as well as postgraduate qualifications in History & Philosophy of science, especially in 16-17th century mathematics. He enjoyed many years of teaching mathematics and attempted to retire as an Assistant Principal at South Oakleigh SC.
Since then, he enjoyed much classroom teaching and has been doing relief work at The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School since 2005. He has been a setter and marker of VCE mathematics and regularly speaks to teachers at Meet the Examiners meetings. Fun fact: Rod has three children, the eldest of whom attended Mac.Rob, and five grandchildren. He also loves trams & trains!
