Phenomenal La Soufrière Drone Footage Reveals St Vincent Volcano's Path of Destruction'
The United Nations has issued a humanitarian alert for St Vincent following the eruption of a volcano that dumped 16 inches of ash on the island.
More than 16,000 people have been evacuated to safety, but now unpredictable volcanic mudflows threaten food and water supplies.
The first of these mudslides occurred on Tuesday, but heavy rains could exacerbate them significantly.
Food supply and ash removal are top priorities with crops destroyed and water contaminated.
The UN has requested $29 million in funding to assist the thousands of people living in shelters across the island.
