President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the unveiling of project marker of the Sariaya Bypass Road during its inauguration ceremony in Lucena City, Quezon on October 21, 2021.
The Sariaya Bypass Road is one of the flagship projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under the ‘Build, Build, Build’ Program of the Duterte Administration. It stretches for 7.42 kilometers starting from the Manila South Road Daang Maharlika up to the Quezon Eco-Tourism Road.
It is expected to cater to around 15,000 motorists and commuters daily going to the different provinces in the Southern Tagalog Region. Since its completion this year, the bypass road improved traffic situation by 40 percent and reduced travel time from Sariaya to Lucena City by 30 minutes.
Aside from this, the Sariaya Bypass Road will boost economic and social development by providing transport efficiency, road safety and expansion of existing business opportunities in the whole of Quezon Province.
