On 24 September 2018 in Mexico City, nine members of the Global Commission on Drug Policy presented the findings and recommendations of the new report, "Regulation: the responsible control of drugs". This report examines in detail how governments can take control of currently illegal drug markets through responsible regulation, thereby weakening criminal organizations that now profit from them.
Commissions present were: Ernesto Zedillo, former president of Mexico; César Gaviria, former president of Colombia; Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria; Ruth Dreifuss, former president of Switzerland; Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand; Nick Clegg, former deputy prime minister of the United Kingdom; Maria Cattaui, former Secretary-General of the ICC; Michel Kazatchkine, former Executive Director of the Global Fund; and Pavel Bém, former Mayor of Prague.
