Despite no rain, cow mob and grass looking good. Ike is a great addition to our farm as our second full time employee. We feel blessed to have Ike on our team to help grow our farm in the future. By selling our steer crop to another grass finisher we preserved what forage we have grown this spring to feed our cows that are calving. If it doesn't rain, don't bury your head in the sand and hope for rain. Have your first round of de-stocking plan in place and implement it. If it continues into a prolonged drought, you need to have another round of destocking in place to preserve your limited forage. It can be painful to partially destock, but if you don't, good chance your farm will go broke.
