Imerman Angels welcomed 333 guests (a sold-out soiree) at the first annual Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 20 from 6 p.m. to Midnight at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago. The event raised $325,123 benefitting Imerman Angel’s mission to enable connections that provide 1-on-1 cancer support among cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.
The formal affair began with a Wings of Hope welcome reception including cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Ritz-Carlton Chicago. Guests were then escorted to their tables where they enjoyed a special ceremony led by WGN TV’s Dina Bair as the Master of Ceremonies, a three-course seated dinner, dancing to live music from Dr. Bombay and a special visit from Chicago Bear David Bass. A riveting live auction saw the highest bid of the evening go for a party for 25 guests at Howard Tullman’s private collection of contemporary art.
The Wings of Hope Gala honored the Cancer Treatment Centers of America who received the Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service- an inaugural award that recognizes healthcare providers who demonstrate exceptional medical service and care for their patients and their families.
Other honorees of the Wings of Hope Gala included:
1871 CEO Howard Tullman, a member of Imerman Angel’s board of directors, who was presented with The Wings of Hope Award by Attorney General Lisa Madigan for his continued excellence in inspiring others, contributing to the cancer community and for going above and beyond to help those in need of cancer support.
Hegele Logistic, LLC, receiving The Angel Award for Community Outreach for supporting the promotion of Imerman Angels by equipping their fleet of trucks with the Imerman Angels logo and enlisting the help of all of their employees to continually spread the word about Imerman Angels in the hospitals and care facilities they visit on a daily basis.
Harvey Weaver, who received The Angel Award for Personal Achievement for exceeding leadership expectations, supporting Imerman Angels’ mission and for personally mentoring over 40 Lung Cancer fighters.

About Imerman Angels
Imerman Angels carefully matches and individually pairs a person touched by cancer (a cancer fighter or survivor) with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel). Cancer caregivers (spouses, parents, children and other family and friends of fighters) also receive 1-on-1 connections with other caregivers and survivors. These 1-on-1 relationships inspire hope and offer the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience. The service is absolutely free and helps anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world.
Imerman Angels is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. To learn more, please visit www.imermanangels.org or call 877-274-5529.
