USCIS finally provided additional filing information for the new parole-in-place program (PIP) for immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens living here. We’ve updated our information to reflect the new filing process given by USCIS. They will start accepting online applications on August 19 or after. Do not send anything before.
There are still some remaining questions that we hope USCIS will clarify when it publishes more information through the Federal Register. They stated they would provide this information soon. We are hoping they will clarify questions surrounding eligibility for immigrants who are subject to the permanent bar due to their entry history, have previous deportations, or have certain criminal histories. We will provide that information to you as soon as we get it.
In the meantime, we suggest that you contact an immigration lawyer or legal representative to go over your eligibility if you have concerns or questions.
While this is a good program and we are happy that the administration is trying to help immigrants, there are still some uncertainties that may surface throughout this process, such as litigation to try and block the program, presidential elections that could affect immigration policies, and a possible lengthy process due to USCIS resources. If you currently have a pending case, we recommend that you consult with an attorney or legal representative to determine if PIP is the right move.
