Voidokoilia Beach, Navarinou Castle, Messinia
Beautiful round beach reminiscent of the letter Omega with a wild landscape of sand dunes and a beaautiful cedar forest.
At the top of the hill there is the Palaiokastro Navarinou. The Venetians who built their castle on the site of the citadel called it Port de Junch, i.e. port of rails. It was built in 1278 by the Flemish crusader Nicholas II Saint-Omer.
On the hill of Paleokastro is also the cave of Nestor. According to tradition, the cave served as a stable for the herds of cows of Nileos and Nestor.
On the north side of the beach are the ruins of a vaulted tomb from the Mycenaean period, according to Pausanias' description, it belonged to Nestor's son Thrasymides. A settlement from the 4th millennium BC was also excavated in this area
