CBS Records EZ Cue Library EZQ 172
Released ca. 1968.
As heard in the Fallout: New Vegas base game in the Gomorrah casino lobby or on the radio in the Mysterious Broadcast as part of the Old World Blues DLC.
Here's another piece of library music in the Fallout soundtrack with another retitle.
The 1968 date is derived Columbia XTV pressing codes. XTV stands for a 12" mono LP while XSV stands for a 12" stereo LP. The matrix numbers for this CBS EZ Cue LP are XTV 134329 and XTV 134330. XTV 130000 numbers are consistent with similar Columbia Custom XTV numbers from Vanguard, Silver Burdett, Reader's Digest releases dated to 1968. XTV 120000 releases can be roughly dated to 1967, XTV 140000 for 1969 and so on.
This piece was composed by Gerhard Trede. It's not clear if CBS used Trede's older work from the Neue Deutsche Wochenschau (NDW) or if he released new work. No other information about the performers aside from the composer is known.
The record indicates the original title given by CBS was "Modern Jazz (Blues)" along with similarly titled Modern Jazz tracks. The CBS LP was partially reissued in 1990 on the Gerhard Trede Collection CD under Selected Sound and EMI for Jazz Time 1. The CD retained some of the CBS titles by removing the "Modern" and simply calling the track "Jazz Blues".
