Advanced lipoedema (Stage Three or Four) has a significant negative impact on a patient’s quality of life. The accumulation of fat cells in the legs, thighs, and buttocks can cause swelling, discomfort, and difficulty with movement. In addition to the physical symptoms, the physical changes brought on by lipoedema can lead to emotional distress and impact self-esteem and body image.

Without proper treatment, advanced lipoedema can even result in complications such as skin infections and lymphoedema.

In this video, Mr Vasu Karri explains his management plan for this patient with advanced lipoedema.

Mr Vasu Karri BSc(Hons), MBBS, MSc, FRCS(Plast) is a Plastic Surgeon and an internationally-recognised expert on lipoedema surgery. He performs lymphatic-sparing lipoedema liposuction with water-assisted (WAL) liposuction (Bodyjet) and a wide variety of body contouring surgeries.
