As Construction Week Middle East launches the Icons Deconstructed series, we get a peek inside the marvelous Burj Al Arab, where Andy Nicholson, General Manager & Director of Experience at Burj Al Arab takes us through the design and architecture journey of the iconic landmark that was built in 1999.
Designed by the multidisciplinary consultancy Atkins, led by architect Tom Wright, the Burj Al Arab was built to resemble the billowing spinnaker sail of a J-class yacht. Its lavish interiors are the work of interior designer Khuan Chew, whose firm, KCA International, was then headquartered in London.
