Nikkei cuisine is a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian ingredients and flavors. The chef of Pacha Nikkei used to work at Kata Robata which I believe is the 2nd best place for sushi in Houston (2nd only to its newer sister restaurant, Katami). The chef is also part Japanese and Peruvian so I was expecting some authentic flavors at Pacha Nikkei. I've obviously been to Japan a handful of times but have also visited Peru--Cusco to be exact--so I have been fortunate to sample authentic cuisine from both nations. I could eat sushi 3-4 times a week but I'm always down for a solid lomo saltado or ceviche as well. So I headed out to Pacha Nikkei for lunch with an empty stomach, open mind, and high expectations.
