Healthcare workers at the Kaiser facility in Manteca gathered their picket signs and joined a movement happening across the region. On Tuesday, dozens of healthcare workers took to the street, chanting as they held picket signs stating, “Our patients need more staff.” “We’re out here picketing right now because of our patients,” said Jimmie Morris, a respiratory therapist at the facility. “Right now, Kaiser has some policies in place that are not really beneficial for our patients.” Workers say a shortage in staffing has led to long waits in the emergency room, and months-long waits just for patients to get appointments with their doctors.
