We live in a VUCA world in which anything can change in an instant. So what must we do in order to ensure our business can stand a turning tide, or unexpected event? Watch this video to find out my thoughts.-


We live in a VUCA world; it’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. Many examples including the EU referendum results & the recent coronavirus pandemic have demonstrated that. We never know what is round the corner, but we have to take it all in our stride. Whether it’s as a country, a business, or an individual, we can turn VUCA on its head and make it mean vision, understanding, clarity, and agility.

I think we can learn a lot from this quote. Whatever is happening around us, we need to have the confidence to take control and believe in ourselves. I have seen a lot of panic surrounding the UK’s decision to leave the EU (BREXIT) from business owners and individuals alike, this then got overshadoweed by the coronavirus pandemic.


Yes, uncertainty is scary, but we shouldn’t let it stop us in our tracks.



Business thrives on certainty, so we need to be able to coolly cope when things are uncertain. To overcome a VUCA world, we need to believe in our own strength and talent, as well as the strengths and talents of our close peers. Go forth with an open mind. We should always be exploring new ideas in business, and assessing the positives that can come from big changes that are often out of our control. Never forget that change creates the opportunity to pave the way for new approaches.



Whatever your views on the Brexit situation in the UK or the impact of the coronavirus pandemic , it is certain that further big change is coming. How will you prepare for more of the unexpected?
