For the longest time I wondered if they still made transistor radios. I was happy to discover that they did! I saw one for sale, brand new, at one of my local department stores. Then I was lucky to receive one as a Christmas present.
The one that was gifted to me is reviewed in this video. It is the Power Bear AM FM portable radio. In this video, I unbox this radio, and put it through its paces. I go over all the features of this brand new little radio.
So, is it any good? Is it worth the money? Should you buy one of these? Watch the video t find out!
I remember transistor radios were so huge when I was a kid in the 70s, and even well into the 80s. It seemed they became less and less common as the 90s wore on. Still, I always had a soft spot for these wonderful miniature radios. I grew up with the tinny sound of a transistor radio buzzing in my ear. This was how people brought music along with them, long before MP3 players and even walkmen.
I do see used transistor radios fairly often at thrift stores and second hand shops. Often they are in pretty beat up condition. So I am very happy to be the owner of a new one!
