If you're just learning the difference between a midwife and a doula, keeping everything straight can be confusing. As a labor and postpartum doula who is obsessed with birth, it was confusing for me at first too. In today's video, we are diving into allll the similarities and differences between these professions. When you're building your birth team you want to ensure you have the best care for your personal birth journey. Some people deliver with an OB, some with a CNM or CN or CPM, and some with no medical assistance at all. Understanding the scope of practice for all of these roles will help you determine exactly the type of people you need to hire in order to have the birth experience you desire. Taking a deep dive on what the differences are between a midwife and a doula will help get you started on the right foot!
