New Zealand's National Film Unit presents 'Pictorial Parade no. 96' (1960)
THE NEW ARMY King George V reviews the First New Zealand Expeditionary Force "somewhere in England" in World War 1, during the 1914-18 days of trench warfare in the Flanders mud. The Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force ploughs through the desert sands of the Middle East in World War II, the fast, mobile war of blitzkrieg and air power. Then the fighting comes nearer home with the amphibious, island-hopping war in the Pacific where New Zealand troops fought among the coral islands and in the dense jungles of Malaya and South East Asia. Finally, we see New Zealand's new army in training with new weapons, new uniforms, new scientific equipment, new social life on station, but always retaining the old comradeship.
