The Israeli war cabinet member, Benny Gantz has said the country's forces will begin an offensive in the southern Gazan city of Rafah next month, if Hamas has not freed the remaining hostages by the start of Ramadan.

More than a million Gazans are now sheltering in Rafah, after being forced to flee their homes elsewhere in the strip.

In the Red Sea a British-registered cargo ship has been hit by missiles in an attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthis.
