In this video i have explained how to calculate load coming on column in a building ie How to Calculate Load on Column. I have shown one example of building plan. From that plan i have shown how to calculate load carrying capacity of column which is positioned at the middle of plan. The method that I have used to calculate is called as method of approximation. There are many ways to calculate load coming on column. One of the most accurate method is to calculate shear forces of the beam which are resting on column whose load you want to calculate. But this method is very length as well as slightly difficult compared to method of approximation.
In approximation method we calculate all floor dead load and live load. this method is used for Calculation of Approximate Loads On Column, Load distribution.Then approximate slab area load that column will carry then similarly dead weight of beam, wall load from beam etc . After calculation you will get the load to design column and footing. Most of the students can easily design the slab and beam. But they don't know how to calculate the load coming on column and reaction of footing. That's why they are unable to design the column and footing
