Panelists will participate in a transformative discussion on how colleges and universities can provide robust support for survivors of sexual assault and build a culture of prevention. Just as the first woman of color in Congress, Patsy Takemoto Mink, helped to craft Title IX, the fight for gender equality at college campuses has been historically tied to challenging intersecting forms of oppression. This panel will defy traditional measures like blue light boxes that offer only a superficial response to safety. Instead, the focus will be on equity-driven strategies designed to empower students and instill values that will stay with them beyond their college years.
