This area of Kumba used to be called, "Ibo Quarters" because it had a population of almost 100,000 Nigerians mostly of the Ibo tribe. After the 1961 separation of Southern Cameroon from Nigeria, it is a mixed tribal quarter. The indigenous BAFAW people are few in numbers. On a personal note, my grandfather owned most of the land in this area. Do not ask me what happened. It is a very, very sad history.
